WACD Proclaims November as Native American Heritage Month, November 18, 2020

On November 16, 2020, the Board of Directors of the Washington Association of Conservation Districts (WACD) adopted a proclamation designating the month of November as Native American Heritage Month:

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, The Washington Association of Conservation Districts (WACD) hereby proclaims and acknowledges that the history of Washington State continues to be influenced by the extraordinary persistence of the First Peoples of Washington; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, The WACD celebrates the important, collaborative relationships that exist between tribes and conservation districts in Washington and encourages conservation districts to reach out and meet with their local tribe(s); and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, During November Native American Heritage Month, the WACD urges Conservation District board members and staff to engage in one or all of the following activities: attend an educational event about Indian culture, read the work of Native American authors (books and articles), watch movies, videos, or TEDX talks about tribes, or support native-owned businesses and charities.
