Testimony on Senate Bill 5996 (Funding Fire Prevention and Suppression) April 9, 2019

On April 8th, the Senate Ways & Means Committee heard testimony for the first time on Senate Bill 5996. The bill would create a dedicated Wildfire Prevention and Suppression Account, funded by an increase of .52 percent on insurance premiums. This account would fund emergency fire fighting, fire preparedness, fire suppression for state agencies, fire prevention, and forest health activity. The legislative session ends on April 28th.
