Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz is reaching out to communities as fire season begins and will be hosting three town halls on fire preparedness, with a briefing on wildland fire preparations and forest health issues. June 26th Yakima Area Arboretum starting at 6 PM. June 27th Chelan Senior Center starting at 6 PM. June 28th Spokane Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture starting at 6 PM. Government to Government Training...

The Governor’s Office of Indian Affairs is sponsoring a one-day training session on the government to government relationship between Washington and the twenty-nine federally recognized tribes within the state. The session covers legal issues, tribal sovereignty, and tribal government, as well as providing a tribal historical perspective. The goal is for attendees to walk away with a better understanding of tribes and the unique culture in each peoples. All events will run from 8:30-4:30. The cost is $110 per person. Washington State University – Southwest WA Forest Stewardship Educator: Thurston, Lewis, Pacific, Cowlitz, Mason, Jefferson, Grays Harbor, and Wahkiakum Counties with a focus on the Chehalis River Basin Lowlands.   This is a full-time, 12-month, temporary Administrative Professional position, within WSU Extension Agriculture and Natural Resources Unit (ANR) in the College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS). The position is headquartered at the WSU Lewis County Extension Office in Chehalis, Washington but serving surrounding counties that are a part of the Chehalis River Basin.
