New Executive Director

Jun 30, 2016 by

On behalf of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of WACD, I am pleased to announce that Robert (Bob) Schroeter will be our new Executive Director, beginning July 18th.

In the interview process, Bob’s answers revealed someone with the leadership, organizational and legislative skills, along with a calm, professional demeanor, that will no doubt be valuable in moving the Association forward. Before the Search Committee and the Board of Directors, Bob demonstrated that he is engaged, decisive, strategic, a quick study on issues, collaborative, compassionate and understanding, professional, a leader.

Bob has over 20 years of experience in law and government relations. His background includes experience as an assistant attorney general, municipal counsel, corporate government affairs director, and a division director for a state agency responsible for operational support. He has provided legal work and legislative efforts on the Clean Water Act, conservation easements, and flooding issues.

He has some important tasks ahead with three priority issues identified by the board:

  1. Working with districts, legislators and stakeholders on our budget request.
  2. Working on the agenda for the annual meeting
  3. Get out and meet with district supervisors and staff.

Beyond these three priorities, Bob fully recognizes there are many other issues which require his attention. He is eager to get started.

Thank you for your patience with us in this process. It took some time, but we feel very good about Bob and what he will bring to the table to support districts and move our organization forward.

As the start dates gets closer we will be sending contact information and other information out to all of you. Have a great 4th of July weekend.
Mark Craven, WACD President
